  The Alphen was amazing except for the food at Blanko, which was horrible. (Except for the mussel starter which was very nice.) . The butternut gnocchi was soggy. The sirloin steak was frozen in the middle. The fish was just inedible - hard on top and watery and defrosted in texture. Even the dessert, had a dry sugary crust at the bottom which hadn’t been properly mixed.
  
  I didn’t complain at the time because I didn’t want to make a fuss and spoil our evening but i have since written to the GM (no response after a week).
  
  Lastly, I also wanted to say that the presentation of the winter special is really uninspired. I understand it’s a special but it really does feel like the corners are cut. Just Blanko though, the lunch and breakfast at the little Deli were very nice.
