Inspired by the warmth of Portugal, hosts Victor and Jackie have created one of the most frequented Portuguese restaurants in Johannesburg.

A Churrasqueira is one of Rosettenvilles longest standing restaurants and cafes. This remarkable Portuguese family restaurant, established 22 years has been reviewed favourably by several magazines and newspapers. Stimulated lyrical recommendations from Le Gastro Gnome which became an in-flight representation of South Africans most delectable in British Airways Horizon Magazine and catered for BBC food Curiosity with celebrated British Chef Ainsley Harriott. Darren "Whackhead" Simpson, has also mentioned us on several occasions on the best breakfast express morning radio shows.
On the 1st of May 2014 Churrasqueira closed its doors in Rosettenville and relocated to Brackenhurst, Alberton. This was only a stepping stone for Churrasqueira as Victor had bigger plans and then 4 years later, we relocated to our present and permanent venue in New Market Park in Alberton. On 25th October 2018, we opened our doors to the all patrons from all over South Africa supporting him through the years, we now have a place called home.

A Churrasqueiras restaurant, is a new home which has become more family orientated with a brand new kiddies menu. As well as  2 brand new ultra-modern and super cool play gyms for our young Churrasqueira patrons to have endless hours of fun, a mini soccer and mini basketball court and a race track for our young drivers. And that's not all, for our teenage patrons we have a chill out games room from pinball to air hockey. We have it all, while Mom's and Dad's can enjoy there perfect Portuguese experience and a chilled out stress free afternoon or evening.
A Churrasqueira is loosely translated as a "variety of food on the grill" a fitting translation considering the menu. A Churrasqueira provides combinations from the classic Portuguese peri-peri chicken to prawn curry, to prawn & pork rashers and more traditional Portuguese dishes such as rabbit stew, tripe and pork & clam stew. It's the finer details that truly shine through at A Churrasqueira, the prawns are grilled in the finest of spicy marinades and the secret sauce of the Churrasqueira steak keep customers coming back week after week, they have a wide variety where every possible taste is catered for.
