Cape Town Mediterranean coastal restaurant Amare, has been named Africa’s Best New Restaurant 2025 at the World Culinary Awards, which took place in Italy.
Amare surpassed top contenders from across the continent and the win shines a global spotlight on Cape Town’s exceptional culinary talent.
Amare opened its doors in October 2024 and has become one of Cape Town’s most celebrated dining destinations. Arteche Investment, the parent company for Aurum and Amare, expressed its pride in having won awards in their respective genres. “In less than a year since opening our doors in Bantry Bay, we’ve had the privilege of sharing our love for Mediterranean coastal cuisine, inspired by the sun-drenched flavours of France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, reimagined through a Cape Town lens. This recognition is a tribute to our incredible team, our loyal guests, and our city, whose spirit and beauty inspire everything we create.
In a bid to further enrich its offering, Amare has recently introduced Amare Jazz Evenings, a delightful fusion of dinner and music held daily in Bantry Bay. If you’re in Cape Town and looking for an evening where Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, sea-air ambience and live jazz converge, Amare in Bantry Bay ticks every box.
The live jazz element truly elevates Amare beyond a typical fine-dining Mediterranean restaurant. As jazz rhythms fills the space, your evening out will shift from simply dining, to a full sensory experience. The live performances encourages diners to linger and sip slowly and to savour each plate and each note. The sounds are well balanced, never overpowering, striking that rare harmony between ambience and artistry.
Service at Amare is polished without feeling stiff - the staff excel at complementing the relaxed, attentive tone of the venue, allowing the music and food to take centre stage. It is a wonderful pleasure to experience the unhurried ambience.
The menu has some very different and interesting dishes and the only way to find out for yourself why Amare has "wowed" the judges and become a firm favourite with the public, is to visit, order whatever catches your eye on the menu, sit back and allow yourself to be part of an unforgettable dining experience.
