The Classic India restaurant is a chain of 3 restaurants specialising in North Indian cuisine. As with the Fourways and Bedfordview branches, The Classic India – Boksburg boasts a menu designed by the executive chef, who is a native of the northern region of India and ensures that nothing short of authentic Indian fare arrives on your plate.
The Boksburg venue is similar to the others in that the space is large and bright and the décor is simple. A neutral colour palette of browns, blacks and creams comes through strongest, although there are sections of the restaurant where the hues are slightly brighter – think red chairs and subtle but noticeable wall paper. At The Classic India, it is the food itself which takes you on a journey to the subcontinent.
While North Indian cuisine is the focus, there are a number of other influences on the menu too, notably Goan dishes and those from the South. Dishes which come highly recommended include the lamb rogan josh, which consists of boneless lamb cooked in a spice-filled Kashmiri gravy, a recipe originating from Kashmir, and the chicken vindaloo, a Goan favourite of spicy chicken with hints of lemon and coconut.
