The Brass Bell Restaurant needs absolutely no introduction. Starting out as a tiny seafood restaurant and pub over 60 years ago, today they’re still a favorite haunt for locals and tourists alike, and have grown in leaps and bounds. Renovations have been frequent over the last years but this is an establishment that is always offering something new and different.

Located on the train station in Kalk Bay and bordering the ocean, the Brass Bell boasts with no less than 3 pubs and 5 restaurants. The views are unsurpassed, one can look out on the ocean or soak up the nostalgia of the quaint Kalk Bay Harbour, one of only 2 working harbours in the Cape. The terrace downstairs form part of a series of tidal pools and a favourite activity of the weekend patrons is to take a cool and refreshing dip between drinks or their lunch courses.
The local Cabin Pub with its wooden artifacts from old ships has a charm that is unsurpassed. Adjoining to the pub is the Cabin Restaurant, a small cozy dining area with its enormous glass windows overlooking the ocean, it’s the perfect spot for a bit of whale watching, serving the delights from the Main menu. The Main Restaurant is more formal, serving a selection of exquisite seafood dishes – naturally. The Terrace area is very relaxed and has a lovely family atmosphere it serves everything from seafood and pizzas to burgers and steaks.
